Summer Show report
The Summer Show on July 23rd was a wonderful occasion despite the very hot weather. The marquee had more floral exhibits than in recent years and the roses were outstanding. The children’s entries, especially those from the school, were plentiful and they all went to town with the decorated hard boiled eggs.
The best exhibit in the show- winning the Millenium Trophy – was a stunning collection of vegetables (5 varieties displayed on a tray) – a special class and difficult to find the right quantity of each vegetable to an exceptional standard.
The WI kindly ran the tea tent this year with many delicious cakes. The classic cars were as admirable as ever and had the addition of several large and lovely trucks. There were some old favourites amongst the stalls and some new ones too.
Many enjoyed the quality of the tool restoration on one stall and got to explore the new apple press purchased by the Parish Council and LDCGS for the village to use on the upcoming Food Festival and Apple Press day on the village green on 1st October.
Several local charities and organisations were able to boost their funds and it was lovely to see the children enjoying the Punch & Judy show and the animal corner.
Well done to all the exhibitors and our grateful thanks to all our helpers who will receive an invitation to our “Helpers’ Thank you Evening” on Friday 16th September.
