Welcome to the Leigh & District Cottage Garden Society website.

We are a well established Society in a small village in the heart of the Surrey countryside, near Boxhill.

Established in 1891, the Society has survived and flourished and is still a vital part of the village community. The Society is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society under whose auspices we run the judging of our shows.

The purpose of the Society has always been to encourage the culture of fruit, flowers and vegetables and of home crafts. We do this with a programme of talks, events and two shows each year organised by a Committee of around 10 members.

Our Summer Show in July is our biggest event – being the highlight of the village calendar. This is a traditional flower show held under canvas, with around 120 classes covering flowers, fruit and vegetables, floral arrangements, handicrafts, home produce and junior classes for younger members. Over the years the flower show has expanded to include other attractions outside the marquee, such as various animals and birds, stalls run by local craftspeople, a classic car parade and entertainments for children. The latest development is the inclusion of various local countryside projects, with displays and activities. Interested in booking a pitch? Click here for the booking form.

Please click on the tabs at the top of the page for further information on our range of activities and details of our programme of events and recent newsletters.

The next Leigh Flower Show and Country Fayre will be held on Saturday July 20th 2019

Opening at 12 noon to all visitors.

We are always keen to enrol new members, and if you are interested in joining please look at the membership page to see the benefits that membership provides, and print an application form. We always require help in putting on the Summer Show, and all offers are gratefully received – please contact any of the Committee.
